ZigBee Alliance, an international association of different companies working towards creating standards for using IoT in various fields, announced that it was working with Thread Group to come up with an end-to-end solution related to the IP-based internet of things network. Going forward, this solution will become a part of the product development specifications, branding, technologies and other certification programs of ZigBee Alliance.
Both Thread Group and ZigBee entered into a liaison agreement in April 2015 to ensure that ZigBee’s application library could be brought under Thread Networking Protocol. They have evaluated the agreement thoroughly, and ZigBee Alliance has initiated the development procedure of a combined solution that can improve interoperability, streamline product development and enhance the overall consumer experience across a variety of good internet of things applications.
ZigBee Alliance will lend its support to Thread Group’s networking layer with the help of ZigBee Application layer. The prime objective of this association is to come up with a complete solution that can justify consumers’ expectations regarding IP-based low-power communication system in IoT and smart home markets during the 3rd quarter of 2016.
Experts believe that this solution will eliminate uncertainty and enhance the adoption of the internet of things technology by consumers and vendors. To spread the awareness about this new initiative, hundreds of ZigBee Alliance members are likely to be present at CES 2016 from January 6 through January 9, 2016, and spotlight ZigBee 3.0.
