Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon Wear And First Gigabit Class LTE Modem

Qualcomm Incorporated, a leading player in technology space, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, introduced Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear and Snapdragon Wear 2100 SaS (system-on-chip). The prime objective of Qualcomm behind this initiative is to enhance the overall wearable experience of customers.

Qualcomm Technologies has a comprehensive product family in wearable space, including Snapdragon 400 processor, which is known for its usability and striking features. With the introduction of new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear and Snapdragon Wear 2100 SaS, it’s planning to take product offerings to all new heights by introducing features like long battery life, sleek designs, and smart sensing.

Snapdragon Wear platform comes with a complete range of support tools, software and reference designs for fashion, sports and mobile businesses to bring world-class wearables to customers. Snapdragon Wear 2100 is equipped with 4G/LTE, 3G technologies as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Four major features of Snapdragon Wear 2100 that give it an edge over other similar products in the market are – smaller size, smarter sensors, lower power and always connected.

Along with Snapdragon Wear 2100, Qualcomm also announced three next-generation processors: Snapdragon 425, 435 and 625. The third major announcement from Qualcomm Technologies was about Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, the first gigabit class LTE modem of the mobile industry. It’s built on Qualcomm RF Transceiver and 14nm FinFET process. It’s the first LTE chipset that can deliver a downloading speed of up to 1 GBPS. The new Snapdragon X16 LTE modem supports the international LTE standard – Licensed Assisted Access for unlicensed spectrums. It comes with inbuilt support for all the major cellular technologies like LTE FDD, WCDMA, LTE TDD, TD-SCDMA, CDMA 1x, EV-DO, and GSM/EDGE.
