MediaTek, a market leader in systems-on-chip and fabless semiconductor field, announced that it has developed two new software development kits for Apple HomeKit, which is a world-class framework built into iOS for securing home control from iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Apple Watch and facilitate home accessories to work together in peculiar smart ways.
According to SR Tsai, General Manager, Networking Business Unit & Wireless Connectivity of MediaTek, HomeKit support is another step taken by the company to connect the next billion people in the world. Customers are looking for innovative, secure and simple technologies that can power their homes, and new SDKs for Apple HomeKit can easily live up to their expectations.
As per the reports, newly launched SDKs can support SoCs, the MT7687 and MT7688. The MT7687 is a low-power SoC that runs on FreeRTOS operating system and can enable various home appliance like the power switch, garage doors, etc. At the same time, MT7688 runs on Linux and can enable webcams, wireless speakers and other such high-performance devices.
In short, users can control all these devices with the help of their iPhones, iPod or iPad that are equipped with MediaTek SoCs.
