India’s Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that M2M (Machine to Machine) communication can bring revolutionary changes in sectors like healthcare, transport and public distribution. Prasad was addressing to the audience during a recent consultative committee meeting on M2M communication.
Other parliament members who participated in this meeting said that Asia’s the fastest growing region in the world in terms of M2M; therefore, India should quickly lay the framework to develop the M2M network. MPs also praised the government for making essential arrangements to make technology an integral part of everyone’s life.
All the participants were enlightened about the revolutionary impacts that can be brought in sectors like transport, agriculture, public distribution and healthcare with the help of M2M communication.
India loses a significant part of capital due to lack of technological advancement in different fields. Technologies like machine-to-machine communication can bring down this loss effectively, said Prasad. According to him, over 75 million devices are connected through M2M in India at present, and will grow to 280 million over the next four years.
He concluded the talk saying that globally over 50 billion devices will be connected through M2M by 2020, which will create a revenue opportunity of $1.2 trillion.
