Due to fast processing, hassle-free experience, and top-notch security measures, IoT and M2M are slowly becoming the need of the hour for businesses in different fields. When the entire world is going crazy behind these world-class concepts, Singapore doesn’t want to miss the shot. According to reports, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore has decided to opt for wearable technology to implement a convenient payment system.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has adjoined hands with Sony, Singtel, EZ-Link, TransitLink and Nets to launch a trial mobile payment system using Sony SG50 SmartBand that is equipped with world-famous NFC (near field communication) technology.
Talking about this initiative, LTA’s Chief Executive Officer Chew Men Leong said that whatever insights LTA gets from this trial, will help it taking the final call about the inclusion of wearable technology on a permanent basis. The authority has chosen over 200 people to take part in this trial that started in August 2015 and will continue till February 2016.
As per the reports, the Sony SG50 SmartBand comes with digital contactless e-purse application card that facilitates contactless payments in a hassle-free manner. Visitors can use this SmartBand to make payments at all the public transits. Apart from this, they can also use the Bluetooth to establish connectivity between their SmartBand and Singtel mWallet app to check the stored value balance of their band anytime.
The SmartBand also allow the commuters to shop around Singapore and earn thousands of royalty points. The Sony SG50 is used to track daily activities and the quality of sleep in the day to day life.
