Vodafone has published its third annual M2M Barometer Report focusing on M2M and IoT growth across the globe. Here are major highlights of this report-
- Out of all the companies using M2M, 83% consider it as a source to get a competitive advantage over their rivals while 59% report a good return on investment using M2M in their operations.
- As of now, over 25% businesses across the globe use M2M technologies to improve their productivity. It’s 23% higher this year against 2014.
- Retail stores have moved to IoT to grow their businesses. The growth is flat 88% compared to the number of retailers who were relied upon it last year.
- Early adapter companies are looking forward to increasing investment in this field; the number is 81% higher than the last year.
The survey covered a host of companies during 2014-15 and sought IoT-related information from them. To everyone’s surprise, 78% of all the companies were aware of IoT concept; including those who haven’t started using it yet. The report also found that more companies than last years have started using big data analytics and cloud computing to manage their businesses.
While presenting the report, Erik Brenneis, Group Director M2M, Vodafone, said that M2M and IoT are gaining popularity at a great pace and will rule the IT world within next five years’ time. The survey was conducted by Circle Research on behalf of Vodafone.
